On July 27, Fred finished off the first half of his concert year with a roaringly successful sold-out performance at the Breakers in Newport, RI, part of the Newport Music Festival. Fred and friends Billy Novick on alto sax, Peter Tillotson on bass and Bob Savine on drums inaugurated their Dave Brubeck Tribute concert. Blue Rondo a la Turk brought down the house. The concert was videotaped by Yamaha Piano Company.
This was Fred’s 194th concert since January. Fred is now taking a break from his rigorous touring schedule until September 17th. He’ll hardly be vacationing though, as he’ll be using the time to learn repertoire for the fall season.
